Massage Therapy for Children & Teens

“The first thing I’ve got to do …” said Alice to herself as she wandered about in the wood, “… is to grow to my right size again. And the second thing is to find my way into that lovely garden.”

-Lewis Carroll

Pediatric clients receive care through gentle, non-invasive techniques such as Effleurage,  Jin Shin Do, (light acupressure), and CranioSacral Therapy. Treatment for young children may simply entail a back massage or may focus on specific somatic or physiological disorder.

Our meetings are held in a warm and cozy environment. I’ll begin with respectful listening to the requests and concerns of your child – no matter their age or verbal communication level – while at the same time keeping in mind Parent and Physician objectives.

Sessions usually complete within thirty minutes, however appointments typically last for forty-five to sixty minutes when considering check-in and follow-up. Because Teens can relax for longer periods of time, a sixty-minute therapeutic massage may be exactly what’s needed.

Pediatric Massage has proven to raise confidence, bolster social interaction, foster greater self-esteem and deepen parent-child bonding. An enjoyable, highly effective, therapeutic experience! Parent/s to participate if Child is under age twelve.

FACTS

Like healthy food and clean water, physical touch is vital to a child’s optimal growth. While young clients benefit in the same manner as do adults, clinical studies for children show enhanced neurological development, coordination between both hemispheres of the brain and improved motor skills. With increased circulation of Serotonin and Oxytocin, (“feel good hormones,”) and with an open flow of cerebral spinal fluid, a child’s emotional state is elevated and physical pain, diminished.

“Caitlin was so gentle and comforting to my special-needs son. He kept asking for another appointment …I booked it today!”
